  The effects were bad then (I saw it back then), the acting was stuff and stilted (Reeves was better elsewhere, Kidder was just bad, and I'm not sure what Hackman was trying to be). Not sure why people liked this movie, or why they made sequels. Bad sequels. Some may go see this for a retro reason, but your kids will be bored silly (it's long too).
